Pictureless Wednesday

I know. People usually call it "Wordless Wednesday." But today, we had some fun SANS camera and it was kind of nice to simply enjoy.

We got about 4-6 inches of snow and then a couple of inches of ice on top of that--soft underneath, crispy and slick on top. Perfect for sledding. So, this afternoon, we drove to our local park and went sledding as a family and it was SO MUCH FUN!

What a workout, too. We're all tired! It was a blast. This park has great hills and sledding down them is fun and fast and there are even some mini ramps that make you fly in the air a bit before landing. Very fun day.

I'm a wimp for cold. I don't like being cold. I have very little interest in cold weather sports of any kind. I don't like getting dressed in a million layers. I like being warm. I like slapping on sandals and going out in the sun. I am a homebody, especially in the winter. BUT I do like to sled. And today was fun.

We didn't take our camera (even though the setting was so picturesque--big snowy hills, big trees with icicles, a snow-banked creek with water running and ducks swimming--all surrounded by big, open farmland), hence "Pictureless Wednesday. " I haven't been getting out much and today was a nice family day that I enjoyed.

Also, please visit The Magic Violinist's Blog for her most recent post. She's written a lovely story and would very much enjoy some comments on it, I'm sure. Thanks!

  2. I love sledding more than skiing but I was thinking how nice a lift would be. :P

  3. In my history it has been easier to avoid injuries with sledding, but I've sone more snowboarding than skiing. I've also had friends break tailbones and collarbones with sledding. So, I think I'll avoid both, for now!

  4. We love to sled too. It is the perfect "family workout," not too tough, and totally fun. I am glad you had so much fun. Did you follow things up with a big cup of hot chocolate with marshmellows? Ahhh... the perfect winter day. =)

  7. Lbs, I'm rather impressed with myself, too. I'm usually the one smiling sweetly from the window, inside where it's warm, and making cocoa.
