Exciting News for our Book Club!

Our book club is being featured in a book!

The authors of the book found our book club website/blog and contacted us. After numerous emails back and forth between them and members of our book club, they chose one of our book selections (Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls, the same author of The Glass Castle), some of our recipes, and several quotes from members of our group, and included us in a section of their book!

The book comes out March 1st and is FULL of wonderful recipes for SO many good books!! You can pre-order it now!

I've already got a copy, as do other members of our book club -- that SUPER fun surprise came in the mail this past Friday even though the book isn't available yet!! I had no idea they'd send us a free copy! It was SUCH a great surprise.

Our book club is in its 8th year -- I wrote about our group several years ago. We have a mix of people -- men and women -- and we meet monthly and discuss good books and eat fantastic food that goes along with the books. We love it!

If you like good books and good food, I definitely encourage you to GET THIS BOOK.

A little back story: One of the members of our club bought me the original Book Club Cook Book as a birthday present for me several years ago, so when the authors contacted me, I was able to say, "I have your book!"

And now, we're included in the new edition! Fun! Anyway, just wanted to share our fun news. :)

That's awesome!! Congratulations!

I've never been in a book club until now, my friend Ashley and I just started one to have something to do in this small town and I LOVE it. We eat good food and stay out way too late and laugh and talk. It's so fun. We have read Half Broke Horses, The Book Thief, and our current book is the Night Circus, which I just finished last night. It was so weird, but really good too. Dave asked me to tell him about it but it is impossible to explain. I can't wait for book club this Friday so I can talk to somebody about it. Anyway..like you care...sorry. Congratulations! That is so exciting!

Oh, Emily, I'm so glad you have a book club! They're great fun. It's so fun to do theme food. After we discuss the book, I love to hear what clever things people have come up with. Then, we eat and talk. Yum! I've read 2 out of the 3 books you mentioned.

Here's a list of our book club's favorites (we vote every year at our holiday party for the top 2 from that year) -- I highly recommend these. "Shadow of the Wind" was excellent -- Vivian recommended it to me and we all loved it.

OF COURSE your book club is being featured! I'm so glad you mentioned your book club because I haven't checked out that blog forever - probably because I haven't read a book forever (gasp!). Sinful to a reader like yourself, I know.

Congratulations!

Wonderful, Stacy! I remember you mentioning this possibility over a year ago and I am thrilled that it happened. Well done!

Thanks, all.

And, honestly, Rachelle, I haven't been reading nearly that much lately. It's SO hard to find the time!

This is great! I'll have to pick it up. One thing I don't like about our travelling lifestyle is the inability to join a book or writers group.
