That's Us. A Little Highbrow. A Little Mundane.
From The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield--there's a great description of a minor character (the doctor's wife) in the book. It goes like this (page 104):
"The doctor's wife wasn't a bad woman. She was sufficiently convinced of her own importance to believe that God actually did watch everything she did and listen to everything she said, and she was too taken up with rooting out the pride she was prone to feeling in her own holiness to notice any other failings she might have had. She was a do-gooder, which means that all the ill she did, she did without realizing it."

I'd forgotten it was going to be ruled on today.
Hence, why I sat in stunned, happy silence just now. Yay!
Without getting wordy, let me just say I'm thrilled to see equal rights being extended to more people in this country. This is just the beginning . . .
I was being a big chicken and waiting for others to comment before me so that I would have more to go off of.
I work with individuals and have relatives that are gay. They are great friends. They are kind, giving, trustworthy and charitable humans.
As a general rule, I don't think it's the right thing for me to do to interfere with other people's relationships. People like who they like. You love who you love. And when I'm at my best, I find myself wishing others happiness, realizing that we all have faults and we all hope to find love.
Great comments, all. Thanks.
Jimmy, that is one of the kindest perspectives I've seen on this issue, whatever one's views.
