Something GOOD about Depression

Did you know that some people believe that depression is simply being realistic? I've heard that in studies, depressed people have a much more accurate and honest view of their lives and the lives of those around them than do people who call themselves "optimistic." Isn't that fascinating?!

It is interesting...though I think the healthiest is a good balance of both. Either extreme probably isn't the 'best' mindset, and it's always good to have hope! ;)

Yeah, but depression isn't really a chosen mindset. It's an illness. It IS interesting to see something good about something so miserable!! And it's interesting food for thought--considering the theory and people I know who have gone through depression or are going through it, you really do become acutely self-aware and that's not always a bad thing at all. It's usually a very maturing growth process (as miserable as it is). That's where counseling is so good--people tend to be self-aware, open, and receptive to doing something about it. Fascinating.
