From The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield--there's a great description of a minor character (the doctor's wife) in the book. It goes like this (page 104):

Ridiculous! I'm almost texted you when Kara said "A hundred Billion percent yes" at one point. Randy's idiocy and incompetence with math is rubbing off!
I loved her. She was great. Usually Randy annoys, but I thought he was trying this time. I bet initially they're "scared" (apprehenive) of anyone until they start singing.
I'm so out of it. I didn't even realize American Idol had started until I read one of your posts. I can't believe he said that...I think sometimes he talks without thinking. I'm glad to read that Vivian said she handled herself well.

Yes, AI has begun! I'm holding myself back from giving my opinions on the uselessness of Avril Lavigne and that Jonas boy (but I did like Katy Perry). Oops, so much for holding myself back.
