New Post and Blog Funk

The Magic Violinist has posted a new post. Please check it out and comment!

Me? I'm in a blog funk. Have even considered stopping or going private or something altogether. I'm discouraged. Every blogger loves comments and knowing she has readers, but I get few comments and I'm thinking that I have a handful of readers and they're probably all people I talk to anyway or with whom I communicate on other blogs. I spend A LOT of time on posts and dang it, sometimes you just want feedback (Mom!). Just teasing--my Mom calls me about every single post and gives me oral feedback. :) (I still like comments!)

But seriously. It's summertime. I'm not on the computer that much these days. I'm outside. I'm playing games with my family. I'm reading. And I'm enjoying all of those things. So, I don't know.

I generally love blogging, but I'm in a funk and I also want to focus on other writing. To blog or not to blog, that is the question. Is anyone even reading this?? (See? Case in point.) :P

Maybe I'll just do a private blog for myself only while I work on NaNoWriMo. Now there's a thought. Maybe I'm just feeling more private? So unlike me. Maybe I'm sick of putting myself out there? Could be. Maybe it's just time to focus on writing a book. Hmmmmmmmmm . . .

I go through phases like that too. I know just how you feel. Keep going.

Stace,

I know that you know that I check your blog three or more times a day.

If you stop blogging i'll have to increase my phone bill and annoy you on the phone.

Do you really want that.

Rethink your rethinking

Jim

I check your blog at least once a day. I always feel weird commenting because I feel stupid always putting This is Emily's Aunt in every post but feel like I have to since we don't know each other. I would be sad because I enjoy your writing and love the pictures!

Do what works for you. Everyone goes through phazes and you don't owe anyone anything. You can take a break and then come back. We'll be here. (And when your book comes out, be sure to let me know so I can get one:D)

I support you in whatever choice you make. You should enjoy blogging and do it because of that. If you stop enjoying it, then you should stop for a while...but I WOULD miss it! Can't wait to see what you come up with for your novel!

I would be so discouraged if you stopped... Especially if it is because of few comments... I would be guilty of the crime... I so enjoy your blog and the deepness you share is a gift I receive from you. But if you consider stopping to be more involved with your family ~ reading and being outside, then I can understand... ...yet to make a decision... I would encourage you to take a year, see how things go, before you jump ship. (Winter is around the corner.)
I remember when I was in a funk and considered why do I take the time to post... does anyone out there really care if I blog. While in this season of dwelling on what to do~ I was on the phone with my sister-in-law she shared how her computer was down and how she really misses seeing my blog. ~I think~ you miss my blog... Then while visiting with my brother in conversation I find he checks out my blog and was up to date with my post. ~I think~ you take time to check my blog. So even though I may not get many comments. I hear and now know that my blog is an important internet link to those who care... without my blog my pictures would just be storing space on the PC. My family and friends would miss that part of my life that I take to post. I also feel it is good for me~ something I do that is more of my time...for myself... ~To be creative...reminisce a family trip...to bring my focus on my life... instead of just being busy moving on in life. I can sit back & reflect...for me...~while~ others enjoy.
So like always~ you need to do what is best...but if you are motivated by discouragement...please consider carefully...for lives will be affected by your decision....to not type sushiandpizza on my address bar would be a new life on the internet for me...be like you moved away and I couldn't visit with you there... :)

Oh, stop it. The world needs your blogs, and you know it. You're the only blog I read that isn't constantly writing about 1. the kids 2. feeling fat 3. a new decorating idea or recipe. You must blog to help my brain maintain balance in this lopsided world of stay-at-home-ish-ness.

Speaking of which..."Because I Said So" is a book of essays by moms who think. It's a sequel to the book "Women Who Think." Check it out. I think you'd like it.

And keep blogging.

Mostly I don't comment because there's nothing intelligent to say or nothing controversial to comment about.

Doesn't mean I don't look forward to reading every post you've put up!

I love your blog (although I barely ever comment). You should definitly keep it up.

I'll do better at commenting if you'll keep blogging. My phone skills are abysmal, so your blog is my lifeline to the PA Foleys.

I have felt this way too! I've really enjoyed blogging but sometimes I wonder why I do it. I would keep a journal if I didn't keep up with my blog and I wonder why I want to share everything with the world??? I think ulimately it comes down to the fact that I like to share what I'm doing with others. Although I get a lot less comments than you (which is fine with me), I am motivated to post in hopes that someone will give me a pat on the back or give me something to talk about. haha. I don't know. I hope you keep blogging. I love hearing what you are up to.

I am going to have to agree with everyone....I love reading about you and your family. I mean, you were one of the people who inspired me to create a blog.

I relate to the blog funk thing - there are days and weeks I don't think about blogging. But I blog for my own personal record more than anything else and I know we're all motivated by different things.

As for your awesome blog, my sushi and pizza friend, it keeps me connected to you in ways I wouldn't get otherwise. You know what your priorities need to be, however, and should you choose to disengage from this blogging phase, we'd just have to figure out a way to make sure we're connecting! Love ya.

I read, but I'm not religious about my commenting. Sorry. I've been in a blog funk myself. I'm looking to the regular routine that comes with fall to help pull me out. Don't stop.

Thanks, everyone.

And Peg, I know who you are now, so you don't have to write that you're Emily's Aunt. Deal? :) Thanks for commenting and the kind words.

I think a lot of my blogger friends are in a funk. My reader is hardly getting any updates. I do like it when people only post when they have something to say (why waste time with a "filler" post just to post something?). I really think I'm just in a blog funk. Every blogger loves comments, of course, but it's not just that. I'm just not feeling the draw. And I *am* feeling the draw to NaNoWriMo, so maybe it's just an energy shift.

Anyway, thanks. I'll post now and then. The discouragement has been growing since getting back from our road trip and over the summer in general. I'll get back in the groove eventually, I think. But if it's not as often, just know it's a blog funk. Or (in the tradition of my SIL Emily, I'll create a new word) . . . a blunk.

Hey, Stacey! Every few months I check up on you... I should just add you to my "stalk" list so I won't miss a post! If you hadn't begged for comment, I wouldn't want to bother you, but here I am! I'm your traffic from PG, I guess, even though we're in Highland. It seems like you're doing great - We sure miss everyone out there! Love ya - me.

Hey Melanie! Wow, I didn't even know you knew about our blog, so thanks for commenting. Awwww, I'm not begging, but it is nice to know who's reading. :) And of course comments are fun for bloggers--they're certainly not a bother! ;) You must be so happy to be out there, eh? Thanks again--nice to hear from you!

P.S. I'm still in a blog funk. But I'm okay with it. :) More to come eventually . . .

I may not comment but I call you/kids/Mark 5-100 times a week. O.K. slight exaggeration. You know how I love to type.
AND Jim and I call each other when we see a post.
I want a FREE copy of your book when you write one.
