Sick and wrong. And yuck.Federal officials suspended operations at Westland/Hallmark after an undercover video surfaced showing crippled and sick animals being shoved with forklifts.
Two former employees were charged Friday with animal cruelty. No charges have been filed against Westland, but an investigation by federal authorities continues.
Authorities said the video showed workers kicking, shocking and otherwise abusing "downer" animals that were apparently too sick or injured to walk into the slaughterhouse. Some animals had water forced down their throats, San Bernardino County prosecutor Michael Ramos said.

143 million pounds of beef recalled
Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting. It's the largest recall yet--it's enough meat for every man, woman, and child in the United States to have 2 hamburgers each. About 37 million pounds of it already went to school programs and has already been eaten. And as for animal cruelty, the article states:

One more reason I don't eat beef hardly at all anymore. So disgusting.
Reminds me of the meatrix (www.meatrix.com), and of course Fast Food Nation. I recommend the book, the movie is not worth watching IMO.
I saw the cows being mauled on tv. It was very sad.
