A Winner is Crowned

As you know, I don't usually recap a rundown of the finale, so I'll just hit some highlights.

Fabulous finale as usual. It's like a huge party and we get to be a part of it.

We turn up our TV really loud and make a lot of food and we even make signs.

Our clever kids came up with the clever signs themselves:

Thing 2, a Crystal fan, has a sign that says "Crystal Rox" (Get it? She rocks. And she rox (as in Bowersox). I could cry, he's so smart.

Thing 1, a Lee fan like her Mommy, has a sign that says "Lee is De Winner!"(Get it? Lee DeWyze . . . De Winner).

I didn't take notes. I just ate, sang along, and screamed excitedly (and scared the dog) when I saw the famous people they brought out on stage tonight. (Off the top of my head, I was pretty pumped to see Joe Cocker, Chicago, and Janet Jackson). Long live the '80s! (There's a reason John Cusack is my Hollywood crush).

I loved the tribute to Simon with all the past idols (minus David Cook, who was hosting a charity event in Kansas City).

I loved that they brought out the "Pants on the Ground" guy. I hate stupid auditions, but I loved his.

Kris Allen is adorable.

I thought the Crystal-Alanis Morissette duet was fabulous. They sounded so, so good.

Oh! Oh! And Casey James and Bret Michaels?!?!?! How freaking cool was that?!! I was so happy to see Bret Michaels! I've been following all his health stuff in the tabloids and it was such a huge surprise to see him on stage and he and Casey did AWESOME work up there.

I love, love, love Paula and was so happy to see her pixie self. She has been missed this season and it was good to have her back. The other 3 judges seemed to melt into obscurity a bit tonight.

Lee was a class act. I absolutely love when the winners sing with such raw emotion. I loved every minute of it.

(And I won't say "I told you so.").

Great, great Idol night. I loved it.

I agree Stacy! Highlights for me were Bret Michaels, Paula, and Lee's reaction to winning...I'm so glad they didn't let us down on the finale! :)

Yeah, but you told me so.

So here I stand surprised and impressed with your early prediction.

I love all the dysfunctional Jacksons (that means all the Jacksons) and so I enjoyed Janet's performance.

It was a great show and I'm happy for Lee eventhough in the end I voted for Bowersox.

OOOHHHH, and I LOVED that they brought back all (or almost all) of the former winners and many many contestants, that was awesome! And the Pants on the Ground guy - fabulous! :D

It was a great ending, no doubt. But you all forgot to mention my favoriteIdol contestant ever, William Hung. He bang when he sings she bang.lol
Hurray fo Lee. He rose from nothing to something great.

I understand that when we have something negative to say, sandwich it between two positives. So here goes:

Glad Lee won. Crystal is super talented and I hope she has a great career. Glad Lee won.

Don't hate me, but I think the Idols, past and present, sounded better than the 'stars.' I ff-> most of the has beens. Their songs are legendary and will last forever, but their voices are on their way out. Sorry.

Glad Lee won.

Glad Lee won too! ;) Loved all the surprise celebrities. When Casey started singing I thought "Bret Michaels is sick, so who would sing this song with him?" Pleasant surprise. I really like the Crystal/Alanis duo except for the manic walking all over the stage stuff. As much as I love Lee I thought that Chicago was a bad fit for him and a little awkward for both him and the band. Other than the name of the city he's from, Chicago didn't seem very relevant for Lee.

I LOVED the past winners and contestants! It was great to see them and to hear how amazing they still are. Good stuff!

Ahh...I'm done. Sorry for the rant. I

With the exception of Christina Aguilera, I think Vivian's right. Voices seem to lose their power with age.

I just wished they didn't bring Huong guy back. He did not belong in the pants on the ground segment.

So I just watched the finale. I've been trying all day to protect myself from knowing who won...the beans were spilled but I watched it anyway. The Simon tributes were fun and all the blasts from the past were entertaining, although I agree with Vivian. As far as singing, I would have just like to listen to the Idol contestants. I love Chicago, but didn't think it was for Lee. I still love him anyway. It's the ending I was hoping for. Can't wait to see where this takes both Lee and Crystal (and Casey...I liked him more and more as the show progressed).

It was awesome! There were several times I was hoping you could be your satirical self and make fun of a. Christina Aguilera's oversight of wearing pants to the show; b. the dead school kids for 'Schools Out for Summer'; and c. Daryl Hall's sunglasses.

Either way, you were right. I loved Lee too. He won us over and his disbelief made you love him even more. I can't wait to hear his album. It is going to be awesome!

Sad to see the AI era end for this year. Great recount for the season! Thanks!

Somehow being in Portugal without a car and no place to go I actually had time to watch the last few episodes of idol. I agree with the finale. Awesome 80s all the way! Thanks for they updates. They are always so fun to read in my google reader!

Awww... I am so glad it's over. This wasn't my favorite season (of the two I've seen... haha!). I did enjoy it, but didn't watch every minute. I actually fast forwarded a lot during the last half of the season. I can't wait to see what these winners do though. It's so much fun to hear their songs on the radio later in the year. I really like Lee's voice. I'm glad he won. Thanks for the fun reading this season. I have been taking a break from the computer, but I'm slowly coming back.
