I've been BOOK tagged!

Yay! I'm so excited! Imagine my surprise when I got TAGGED by my friend "G!" (What a great surprise "birthday present!")! Here's how it works:

Grab the book nearest you.
Go to page 123.
Go to the 5th sentence on the page.
Type in the following 3 sentences.

My nearest book is one of my very favorites, the great kind of book you can pick up and open to anywhere and be inspired--Selected Writings of Emerson. Like this:

The transmigration of souls is no fable. I would it were; but men and women are only half human. Every animal of the barn-yard, the field and the forest, of the earth and of the waters that are under the earth, has contrived to get a footing and to leave the print of its features and form in some one or other of these upright, heaven-facing speakers.

I love Emerson. And I tag Mark, Emily, Nicole, Ruth, Terrie, and Kara. Thanks again, G.

My nearest book is Wherever You Go There You Are by Jon Kaban-Zinn. I'm working through it slowly, so as to really get the mindfulness thing, so I'm not to page 123 yet. But here is my excerpt . . .

"So, if you have some motivation to practice even a little, that is what is important. Mindfulness needs to be kindled and nurtured, protected from the winds of a busy life or a restless and tormented mind, just as a small flame needs to be sheltered from strong gusts of air. If you can only manage five minutes, or even one minute of mindfulness at first, that is truly wonderful."

Not a bad little reminder. Thanks for that!

I am reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling.

"On the other side of the glass Hagrid was standing with his back to them, looking up and down the street.
'Get under here, quick," said Harry, pulling his Invisibility Cloak out of his bag.
'Oh--I don't know, Harry," said Hermione, looking uncertainly towards Mrs. Weasley."

Seriously, this is K's 6th or 7th foray into that series!

The nearest book is The Broken Wings by Kahlil Gibran. Fabulous book.

"At dawn Selma gave birth to a baby boy. When she opened her eyes she saw smiling faces all over the room, then she looked again and saw life and death still wrestling by her bed. She closed her eyes and cried, saying for the first time, "Oh, my son."

And ditto "thanks" for reminding me what a moving book this is. Fiercely romantic.

Okay the nearest book was Stand a Little Taller by Gordon B. Hinckley. pg 123 doesn't have 5 sentences.(Its a daily quote book) It has two. So here is the second.

"Our willingness to sacrifce for this the Lord's work reminds us that this is the very essence of the Atonement, the ultimate sacrifice made by the Son of God in behalf of each of us."

Does this count? or should I pick the next nearest book? Incidentally I'm reading Eragon, The first Two thousand years, finishing A tree grows in Brooklyn and soon will be starting the Alchemist.
