That's Us. A Little Highbrow. A Little Mundane.
From The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield--there's a great description of a minor character (the doctor's wife) in the book. It goes like this (page 104):
"The doctor's wife wasn't a bad woman. She was sufficiently convinced of her own importance to believe that God actually did watch everything she did and listen to everything she said, and she was too taken up with rooting out the pride she was prone to feeling in her own holiness to notice any other failings she might have had. She was a do-gooder, which means that all the ill she did, she did without realizing it."

yeah, november really isn't the best time for that is it.
My dear friend Christen (who has written - and had published - two books) convinced me to do NaNoWriMo about 3 years ago.
What I wrote was complete crap (well, maybe just PARTIAL crap) BUT it did convince me that I could do it, and the fact that you have only 30 days definitely forces you to be very regimented about your time and GET IT DONE. Plus the whole camraderie is wonderful... I really enjoyed the experience.
Christen is preparing to write her 3rd book and wants me to write one simultaneously, so we can encourage one another. I'm considering it.....
I found a place for you to visit next time you're in town.
Beehive Tea Room
yeah, i want to do it one of these years too,,,, I just haven't ever the time.
Shoot! I didn't read the rules, but can you get started for next year? I hope you will do it next year.
One of my former students is doing this! I'm so proud of her!
I wonder if I'd be more likely to do it in, say, February or May. But then that would make it FeMoWriMo or MaMoWriMo. Should we set up a competitor site? :P
HWHL, that's so cool that you did it!! I think you should go for it!
Emily, that place looks divine! Have you been? I love coffee houses and tea rooms.
I hear you, D'Arcy.
April, you have to do all your writing in the month of November, from what I understand. People who do it love it. Thanks for the encouragement.
Jessica, that is so cool!!
