Ebay Find

Well, after Lowe's decided to quit stocking it, some guy in Ohio decided to list it on eBay and we got a deal on it (cheaper than it had been at Lowe's)! Isn't it cute?

Okay, so another deal we've recently gotten, too . . . we've recently made a GREAT purchase when we've impulsively decided to shop at a thrift store. We've been looking for a USED dining room table and we've found SUCH a bargain at a thrift store of all places! That's pretty amazing since I pretty much have an aversion to thrift stores for various reasons--issues from my adolescence, the smell, sifting through used stuff to find a bargain, etc. isn't generally my idea of fun and I find it kind of "blechy" to be honest. We generally adhere to the principle of "Buy New. Take good care of it." and that works great!

But thift store? For a dining room table? Perfect! Why?

1. We have a formal dining room in the farmhouse that we're using as a library/formal dining room.
2. We like to have people to dinner and with our move to the farmhouse, we have the room!
3. Our kitchen table chairs are SO rickety and that's got us holding off on having people to dinner (which we enjoy doing!).
4. Dining room tables cost THOUSANDS of dollars and we're spending that on asbestos removal, radon mitigation system, a sign, clinic supplies, etc.
5. It's nice to have a used table so you don't have to sweat all the little scratches, etc. (not to say that you're rough with it--not at all; you're careful but you don't have to obsess or worry) so we can use it for school and art projects comfortably.

So, we're at the store and we notice a great Shaker-style table (which we love) that seats at least 6 quite comfortably and has THREE leaves to seat 10 quite comfortably! It has 4 seats. Price: $100.

We notice another dining room table set with 6 chairs that look really nice with the 4 chairs. We ask if we can buy the (very sturdy) chairs separate from the table. Nope. Price: $150

We like that eclectic look of mixed chairs--it's country/farmhouse yet modern and works.

So we contemplate buying both sets and selling the second table.

We see a sign saying that "All Wood" is 50% off. Does that include dining room table sets? Yes! Yeeha! Then we notice a sign that says "Cash and Carry" 10% off. That means an additional 10% off to pay for it and take it that day. So we do!

For $112.50, we got 2 very nice tables, 3 leaves, and 10 very cool chairs! We're sanding and fixing up the first table (that we REALLY like) and using all 10 chairs. We can sell the other table. Heck, we get even $12.50 for the table and that means we get ALL of it for 100 bucks!

Plus we get to use the very cool tools we've got from my Dad (thanks, Mom and Dad!). He's been stashing them at his brother's house and since we have room for them (Carriage House), we have them and can use them! :)
