Despite my uncle's prediction, we got grapes this year! And they were delicious!
And we've also enjoyed homegrown gladiolas -- our friends shared bulbs with us and we got to enjoy some summer beauty from them!
That's Us. A Little Highbrow. A Little Mundane.
From The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield--there's a great description of a minor character (the doctor's wife) in the book. It goes like this (page 104):
"The doctor's wife wasn't a bad woman. She was sufficiently convinced of her own importance to believe that God actually did watch everything she did and listen to everything she said, and she was too taken up with rooting out the pride she was prone to feeling in her own holiness to notice any other failings she might have had. She was a do-gooder, which means that all the ill she did, she did without realizing it."

Oooh! I love gladiolas!!! Beautiful! Glad you got grapes too!
If I were a person who liked grapes, I would probably think those looked delicious.
We used to have gladiolas when we first moved into our house, but they've been gone for many a year now. I miss them.
Thanks!
Yeah, April, they're the same grapes my Dad grew, too, so it's sweetly sentimental as well. :)
lbs, you don't like grapes? Really?
