We knew this was coming . . .

We learned yesterday that
Thing 1 is getting published
!
We are so proud of her!
She entered a poetry contest and won.
Her winning poem will be published in a book.
And there is also an awards ceremony this month.
SHE IS THRILLED!

And we just KNOW that this is the first of many times.
She is constantly (and I mean constantly) writing.
And she loves to enter every writing contest she can.

Congratulations, Thing 1!
We are so happy and so proud of you!

Congratulations! (Of course, I already told you this when I saw the sign with you.)

Every year our local library does a publication that goes on the children's shelf. Thing 1 is very excited to be in a library book. This is the Big Time for her.

Congratulations Thing 1! Very impressive. I checked her blog to see if I could read it there. Alas, no. Unless there is some copyright problem, can she please post her work for those of us who don't have a Lebanon Co. library card?
(I removed my earlier comment because I noticed a typo and couldn't let it slide.)

Here is her poem. It's called "Farm Animals"

Dogs are yapping,
Cats are napping.
Horses neighing,
Also braying.
These are the sounds of the farm.

Chickens squawking,
Also walking.
They’re doing this in the barn.

Roosters crowing,
On the roof.
Acting like a bird alarm.
They’re doing this,
On the barn,
In the farm.

Fantastic. Loved the concise, discriptives lines and the rhyming. Loved the last lines of each stanza - sounds of the farm and in the barn. Loved how she used them both to close - on the barn, in the farm. Genius! Serious Talent (with a capitol T).
